Claudius Millard Harris, 88, transitioned to eternal life with Jesus on Friday, July 1, 2022.
He was born December 15, 1933, in Wilkes County to the late John and Julia Webster Harris. He served in the United States Armed forces during the Korean war and was honorable discharge in 1955. He graduated from Wilkes County School System in Wilkesboro, NC, and attended Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston Salem, NC. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service and worked for Winston-Salem Forsyth School System for many years.
He was member of Denny Grove A.M.E. Zion church in Wilkesboro, NC. He was a member of the Social Promoters Club of Winston-Salem for 30 years.
Mr. Harris was joined in holy matrimony to Barbara Ann Tidline on June 2, 1956. They were married for 67 years and had one son Bryon Harris.
Claudius was a devoted husband, caring father, great step grandfather and a loving family-oriented man. He enjoyed yard work and gardening.
Claudius was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julie Harris, three brothers Percy Harris, William Harris, and Webster Harris. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Harris of Winston Salem, one son Bryon (Maria) Harris of Winston Salem and one step-grandson Tyler Jackson. One sister-in-law Doris (Robert) Anderson. He had nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were dear and close to his heart.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel of Douthit Funeral Home in Winston-Salem, NC on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 1:00 pm Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Service.
