Obituary

On May 6, 2023, Cordelia took her rest and slipped into the arms of the Lord. Born Cordelia Ann Pate in Winston-Salem, NC to parents, Odell B. Pate and Elizabeth "Lib" Pate, she was educated in the Forsyth County School System. After graduating from Atkins High School, Cordelia moved to New York City where she worked in modeling before going on to work for 17 years in accounting at Goldman Sachs. While living in New York City, Cordelia met her husband and they had two children before returning to Winston-Salem in 1995. Cordelia completed her undergraduate studies at High Point University obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in 2009. In 2019 she retired from BB&T and spent her time in service to her church and traveling with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her parents; her brother, Odell "Pinky" Pate; two sisters, Imetta Pate and Janice Acker; her grandmother, Carrie Acker; her aunts, Annette Raye Acker and Betty Jean Acker; and her uncle, James "Brodie" Acker.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband Frederick Cooper; a son, Bjorn "BJ" Cooper; a daughter, Crystal Cooper; a son-in-law, Cory Baker Sr.; one grandson, Cory Baker Jr.; and three granddaughters, Jordyn Cooper, Jahairri Cooper and Colby Baker. Also, three brothers, Reginald Acker, Preston Pate (Delphine) and Richard Pate; two sisters, Adele Pate and Maeola Leak (Paul); one aunt, Verdell "Tina" Campbell; one great aunt, Hattie Green of Belmont, SC; extended family Patricia Douthit (Pete); her lifelong friend, Lorraine Peeples and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held Thursday May11, 2023 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Friday May 12, 2023, at 11:30am from New Hope Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 11:00am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
