Mrs. Dorothy James Marlin (Dot, known by her family and close friends) of 542 Linville Road, Kernersville, NC passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021. She was born on September 12, 1949 to the late A. Q. Page and Martha T. Page in Lumberton, NC. Dot graduated from Anderson High School in Winston-Salem, NC in 1967. She attended Winston-Salem Business College. She previously worked for Basset Sack and AT&T, Winston-Salem, NC prior to being the first black woman hired by Globe Union, Winston-Salem, NC, which is known today as Johnson Control, in 1979. In 1984 Dot married her husband, Isiah Marlin, Sr. They spent 42 years in this marriage until her death. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Albert L. Page, Larry Page, Sr., and Ricky Pope; her father and mother in law, Jones and Alma Marlin, 1 brother in law, John Marlin, and 1 sister in law, Mary Ann Turner. Dot leaves to cherish her fond memories, her husband, Isiah (Zeke) Marlin of the home, 2 biological children, Racquel(Money) James, Winston-Salem, NC and Robert N. James, Greensboro, NC; 2 stepchildren, Isiah (Ike) Marlin, Jr. and April Marlin of Winston-Salem, NC; 4 biological grandchildren, Kevin Said Gamble, Jr. of the home, Lauryn James, Brian James, Austin James of High Point, NC, and Nevon James, of Greensboro, NC; 2 step-grandchildren, Ari Marlin and Gavin Marlin, Winston-Salem, NC, 1 Aunt, Virginia Page, Fairmont, NC, 3 sisters, Eugenia (Gina) Page Foxworth, Kernersville, NC, Gwendolyn Blackmon, Knightsdale, NC, Angela Pope, Winston-Salem, NC; 1 brother, E. Donald (Angela) Pope, Blewes Creek, NC, 3 sister in laws, Rosetta Dennis, Debbie (Kevin) Gary, and Alma Campbell, Winston-Salem, NC, 3 brother in laws, Jerry (Massie) Marlin, Oxford, NC, Larry Marlin, Myrtle Beach, SC and Robert Lee Marlin, Winston-Salem, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends. A private memorial service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
