Obituary

Mr. Frederick (Fred) Eugene PauPaw, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021. Fred was born to the late John Melvin PauPaw and Emmaline Hamilton PauPaw on March 11, 1930. Mr. PauPaw was a Veteran of the United States Army, in which he served for over 30 years. During his tenure in the military, he received several military honors. He rose through the ranks and retired as a Sergeant Major (SGM). Upon retiring, he settled in Winston-Salem and became an entrepreneur and certified locksmith. He enjoyed fishing, making keys, and attending church. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on several auxiliaries. He is survived by his wife (Brenda Lee Bohannon Perry PauPaw) whom he was married to for over 40+ years. Fred is also survived by his brother, Donald Richard PauPaw (Mary PauPaw), daughters, Monique PauPaw, Michelle PauPaw, Adrienne PauPaw-Helfand, Bernadette PauPaw-Trinidad (Joseph Trinidad), and sons Anthony E. PauPaw, David PauPaw (Gai PauPaw), and Dominick PauPaw (Vernadette PauPaw), step-children Deborah Perry, Charles Perry (Johnetta Perry), and Darren Perry, along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunt (Clesta Barren), and other relatives. He was preceded in death by brothers John Melvin PauPaw, Arthur Willis PauPaw, Edward Lester PauPaw; sisters Florence Elizabeth Callendar King and Carrie Etta PauPaw; as well as daughter, Annette PauPaw. A public viewing will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit Funeral Services. A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services
