Mr. Julius L. Epps (Boopie), 69, passed away April 1, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Forsyth County on October 6, 1950 to Julius L. Quick and Lillie Lee Epps Simington. He was a 1968 graduate of Carver High School and 1976 graduate of Forsyth Technical Community College both in Winston Salem, NC. He dedicated 4 years to the United States Air Force. He was retired from TE Connectivity (formerly known as Tyco Electronics and AMP Inc.) after 40+ years of service.
He was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and the following ministries: Galilee Missionaries, Men's and Greeters. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Salem Lodge #139 P.H.A., where he was a Past Master and a member of Meridian Chapter #308 O.E.S. P.H.A., where he served as Past Patron.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother, Henri Payton Slade.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Carolyn Campbell Epps, sister, Harrietta Mickle; brothers, Michael Epps of Atlanta, GA and Darryl Quick of Greensboro, NC; aunt; Verdell Price; daughters; Christa Epps and Sonja Carey (Louis); son, Byron Epps; two grandchildren; Terron Epps and Kimberly Gregg, one great granddaughter, Leila Epps; nephews, Michael Brown and Brandon Spillman, Marquis and Darion Quick, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Special thanks to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and the Diaconate Ministry.
A public viewing will be held at Douthit Funeral Services on Sunday, April 5th from 2pm – 5pm. A private Home Going Service will be held with a memorial at a later date post Coronavirus.
