Millicent Samuel Lemon, 84, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, following a period of illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Isabell Samuel Tate; her son, Carlton; and her very special aunt, Asilee Samuel Marshall.
She was born to the late Isabell Samuel Tate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on July 20, 1934. She was a graduate of Lincoln Academy in Kings Mountain and attended Clark-Atlanta University on a music scholarship.
Mrs. Lemon was a founding member of New Birth Worship Center. She retired from Hecht's Department Store.
Survivors include her children, Stephanie (Harrison) Porter and Elliott (Saundra) Lemon; grandchildren, Christopher (Brittany) Porter and Makayla Lemon.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at New Birth Worship Center. Interment will follow at New Birth Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Senior Services, 2895 Shorefair Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or New Birth Worship Center, P.O. Box 611, East Bend, NC 27018. The remains may be viewed on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 2pm-6pm at Douthit's.
