Monroe Pardlow Martin Jr., age 78, of 2955 Bainbridge Drive, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on
February 10, 2022. Monroe, known to his friends as "Pardlow" or "Big Man", loved classic western, martial arts and action films. He was especially fond of John Wayne's films and spaghetti westerns. He passed on his love for classic films to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to travel to visit old friends in South Carolina. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren eating ice cream.
He was born to Monroe Pardlow and Cleartis Martin on March 27, 1943, in Winston-Salem, NC. Monroe married Emma Elizabeth Miller on October 4, 1962. He was a hard-working and dedicated father and provider, working at RJ Reynolds Tobacco for over 30 years. He was also employed with Dining Services at Winston-Salem State University. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents and 12 siblings.
To cherish his memory, Monroe leaves daughters Bennie (Willie) Holmes, Sandra Martin and Annette Martin; grandchildren Keshia Martin, Tara Martin, Sheena Martin, LaShawndra Martin, Isaiah Holmes, Ashley Holmes and Satara Miller-Martin; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Evangelist Mary Davis; niece Loretta Smith; brother-in-love Fred (Alice) Miller; sisters-in-love Bennie Mae (Nat) Baines, Rosa Lee Miller, Ada Mae (Arnold) Antunez and Theresa Miller.
After a life well lived, Monroe Pardlow Martin Jr. can claim victory through Christ Jesus.
"Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth. A public viewing will be held Friday February 18. 2022 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 19, 2022, at 12:30pm from Victory Outreach, 4555 Shattalon Drive, W-S, NC 27106 and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens The family will receive friends at 12:00pm. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
