Ms. Sarah E. Lindsay, daughter of the late Sindy S. Lindsey was born February 24, 1932 in Ansonville, North Carolina. Her earthly life came to a close on Monday, January 23rd, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem, NC.
She graduated from the public schools of Anson County, NC in 1952 and relocated to Winston-Salem in 1953. She joined Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. A.H. McDaniel that year and served faithfully also under the pastoral leadership of Dr. B. F. Daniels; where she was a member of the senior choir until 2004. She retired as a kindergarten teacher from Union Baptist Daycare Center. She was a member of the Morningside Flower Club and the Claude D. Rucker Birthday Club.
Sarah was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother. Her legacy lies in her unparalleled talents in the kitchen. Anyone who knew her knew she loved to feed her family and friends. She was legendary for her cabbage!
She was predeceased by her son, Larry Lindsay in 1991. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Deborah and Vickie of the city. Her one and only grandchild, Jerele of Charlotte, North Carolina and her great-grand dog Pablo. She is also survived by her cousins Joanne Kilgore and Rikki (Cedric) Baldwin of Badin and Albermarle, NC. Three special and devoted friends — Ms. Mary Douthit, Mrs. Ella Parker, Mrs. Thressa Witherspoon and a host of many other loving relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday January 27, 2023, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 28, 2023, at 1:30pm at Douthit's. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services. MASK ARE REQUIRED!!
