Ms. Sylvia Lorraine Hairston was born on June 26,1950 to the late Adam T. and Guynell Byrd Hairston in Winston Salem, NC. She departed from this life on Thursday June 22, 2023, at Davie Nursing and Rehab Center in Mocksville, NC. To family and friends, she was affectionately known as Syl.

Syl attended Atkins High School. She was employed by Brown and Williamson for 15 years. Syl accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Winston Salem, which she attended with both of her parents.

Syl is survived by her loving and devoted sons: Reuben (Jocelyn) Hairston of Winston Salem, Christopher (Brandi) Hairston of Greensboro. Two brothers: Thomandez Douthit, Sr and Adam Hairston, Jr both of Winston Salem. Eleven grandchildren, two Nieces and one nephew. One Aunt, Charmin Mauney of Winston Salem and one Uncle Roger Hairston of California. A devoted best friend Addie (Vinson) Wagnor of Winston Salem.
