Tanetia Laviana Cunningham, age 22, adoring mother of one, loving baby sister, and exceptional daughter, passed away May 11, 2022, in Winston-Salem NC. She was a true fighter and rebelled against sickle cell her entire life. Tanetia was born on October 29, 1999 to Denita L Cunningham and James T Hearing of Winston Salem, NC she is the youngest of 2 and she attended Parkland High School, where she graduated in 2019.


During her high school years she was a member of the Phoenix Pearls dance team where she was the first 10th grader to become team leader. Tanetia later attended Forsyth Tech CC where she received her certification in early childhood development.


Tanetia was employed at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, she loved young kids, fashion, hair and make up, but most importantly she loved her family and considered everyone of you as her extended family.

Tanetia touched the lives of so many people with her witty personality and her beautiful spirit. She always managed to make everyone smile and those that knew her understood her determination and drive to succeed at whatever she did. Tanetia never second guessed her place in this world.


Tanetia was preceded in death by her grandfather John Miller, great-grand father John Miller Sr, great-grandmother Edith Key, and great-grandmother Eula Mae Cunningham. She is survived by her daughter Nova S Cunningham, mother Denita Cunningham, brother Ricky Cunningham, loving grand-mother Deborah Cunningham, special cousin Manita Bailey and host of aunties, uncles, cousins, family and friends.


We will forever cherish the memories she gave us, and will always be reminded of her infectious smile and beauty. A public viewing will be held Friday May 20, 2022, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 21, 2022, at 11:00am from Douthit's and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Family will receive at 10:30am Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
