Virginia Ann Jones Leaper was born in Winston Salem on August 31, 1940 to the late
Geneva and Benjamin Jones, Sr. She transitioned on Monday, August 10, 2020.
Virginia was reared in Winston Salem and attended Paisley High School. She retired from
Taylor Brothers Tobacco Company after more than 30 years of service. Virginia was the
Grand Dame Fashionista, the very epitome of style and grace. She never stepped out of her
house unless she was runway ready.
She raised her two children, Lynita and Demarest in Winston Salem.
Virginia was predeceased by her parents; sister, Dirah Martin, brothers Connie Jones and
Dennis Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Lynita (Elton) Jessup, Grandchildren Derenta
(Sparkle) Jessup, Sr. and NaKenya Jessup; Great grandchildren Derenta Jr., Na'Ziaha,
Laila, Tauren, and Donte'; and Great-great granddaughter Marley
Other survivors include siblings sister Linda (Dallas) Williams; brothers Jerry (Audrey)
Wilkins, Benjamin Jones, Jr., and Theophilus (Valarie) Jones; Aunt Martha (Norris)
Gullick; and Uncle Richard (Mary) Wilkins and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Virginia is also survived by longtime friend Leroy Epps.
The family would like to say a thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Piedmont
Dialysis and Trellis Supportive Care. A public viewing will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 from 2pm until 5pm. A private service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Douthit Funeral Services.
