Mr. Wilbur Eugene Singleton, age 75, passed away, Saturday January 15, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist following long-term illness. Wilbur was born April 28, 1946, in Detroit, MI to the late Johnny Carlton and Irene Williamson.
Wilbur was married to his beloved wife, Mrs. Betty O. Singleton, for 51 years. He worked for the National Freight Trucking Company as a professional truck driver for many years. He served in the United States Military in the Army branch in 1965 where he was called into combat during the Vietnam War. Wilbur took an interest in politics. He was very faithful to the word of God where he taught his children the Lord's prayer. Wilbur continued to lead his family by the guidance of God's word, the Holy Bible. Some of his achievements include a High School diploma, Automotive certificate, a combat Vietnam Veteran in the U.S. Army, and the completion of 101 Airborne Division Association on May 9, 1968.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Singleton; daughter, Tajara Singleton; brother, Bernard Singleton; and sister, Carolyn Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Betty O. Singleton, NC, his children, Derick Singleton, Natarsha Singleton, Ashley Singleton, all from Winston-Salem, NC, Six grandchildren, a great-grandson: three brothers Bobby Lee Singleton of Smithfield, NC, James Singleton of Newark, Delaware and Arthur Montgomery of Winston-Salem, NC. Two sisters Clara Smith of Winston-Salem and Rosemary Johnson of Greensboro, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many friends.

A public viewing will be held Sunday January 23, 2022, from 1pm until 4pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Monday January 24, 2022, at 12pm and interment will follow in Gardens of Memory. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
