Mr. Winder Ray Brown's Obituary

On September 8, 2021, while at his home, Winder Ray Brown Sr. departed from this world into the arms of Jesus.
Winder was born to the late Zannie M. Brown, Sr., and Christine Brown on September 19, 1949. He was employed by the Winston- Salem/Forsyth County School System as a school bus driver until his retirement.
Professional driving was a "Labor of Love" for Winder. He drove as a limousine chauffeur, a taxicab driver, and as a member of the Winston- Salem bus transportation team. He continued to serve even while in retirement as a driver at Union Baptist Church.
Winder was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend B.F. Daniels and Bishop Sir Walter L. Mack, Jr., until his untimely death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zannie and Christine Brown, and by his sister, Avis Colleen Brown Plummer.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful and loving memories, two sons: Windra Brown Jr.; Cyrus (Takiyah) Brown of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers: Zannie (Shirley) Brown Jr. of Winston-Salem, and Charlie (Grace) Brown of Sumter, S.C.; two nieces: Drs. Melody (Jared) Russel of Auburn Alabama and Karla (Terius) Dolby of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
