Mr. Yerkoy Shuler's Obituary

Yerkoy Rayshun Shuler, known to his family and friends as Koy, began life onApril 2, 1982. He was born to Diedre Denise Shuler and Charles Raymond Goodson and reared by his grandparents, the late Bishop Ricky Pouncey and Mother Barbara Pouncey, and aunt, Stephanie Golden. He received his ticket to
Heaven on Friday June 14, 2024. Koy attended schools in the Winston Salem/Forsyth County School district. He was recently employed by UPS. On June 14, 2024, Koy went on to join a family reunion in the sky. It was there that he joined his maternal grandfather, Bishop Ricky Aldean Pouncey, paternal grandfather, Jerry Edward, great uncles, Joe and Thayers "Stinky" Shuler, cousin, Kedrick Glenn, and his Crystal Cuthbertson. Koy lived his life to the fullest. He fancied himself as a singer and fisherman.
Some of his happiest memories were captured on various stages as he performed his comedic acts. Koy was a jokester that never told a bad joke. He never met a stranger and would jump on anyone's stage and take over the party. Koy took every day and made it his day. He never allowed his struggles to bring him
down. Koy was baptized in Jesus name by the now, Bishop Claude C. Turner, whom he referred to as Elder Turner at what was Calvary Hill Apostolic Church. Koy enjoyed the many outings sponsored by the youth department and the annual beach trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. He took the teachings that he learned from
Bishop Turner and his grandfather, Bishop Pouncey, and began his own church on Moravia with his family. He would eagerly request that his daughters come sing. Koy took Jesus wherever he went. It didn't matter what he was doing, he found a way to minister to those around him. Koy leaves to rejoice in sweet memories his daughters, Koyana Cuthbertson and Koynasia Cuthbertson; his parents, Diedre Shuler and Charles (Jeanette) Goodson; maternal grandmother, Barbara Ann Shuler Pouncey; paternal
grandmother Virginia Edward; siblings, Turnetta Shuler, Mahogany Nelson, Temika Nelson, Leviticus Jenkins, Marvell Johnson, Aaron Pearson, and Anthony Pearson; nephew, J'Torian Shuler; favorite aunt Stephanie Shuler Golden; favorite uncles, James Pouncey, Sr. and Ricky Pouncey; special cousin
and sister, Katisha Shuler; partner, Betsey Charles; best friends, Michelle Manning and Shaunte Quattlebaum; a host of other cousins, loved ones, and friends Funeral service will be held Saturday June 29, 2024, at 11:00 am from Calvary Hill Church of Greater Deliverance.
