Yulanda O'hara Mitchell Hannah, affectionately known as "Poochie" and "Jho", was born on July 7, 1970, to the late Deacon James McCoy Smith and Linda Lee Mitchell. She spread her wings on Sunday, December 18, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends. It was this day; that she answered the call.
Yulanda was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a sister. She had the biggest heart, and would go out of her way to help anyone that she could. She had an infectious laugh, a quick wit, and a great love for her family.
Yulanda was also a Licensed Practical Nurse, since 2013, as well as an entrepreneur. Yulanda was smart, kind, loving, and represented the essence of a brown queen. She has left a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.
Yulanda was preceded in flight by her father, James McCoy Smith, her mother, Linda Lee Mitchell, her uncles, George Alford, Everett Smith Jr., Waddell Smith, Willie Smith, and Weldon Smith Watkins, her aunts, Frances Murrell- Welch and Linda Washington Alford, and her nephew, Marcus RaShon June. Yulanda leaves to mourn, her husband, Rodrecius Hannah, her sons, Eric Mitchell, D'Andre Mitchell, and Benny Williams,; her grandchildren, Zymere Mitchell, Zharia Mitchell, and Karter Mitchell, all of Winston Salem, NC; her sisters, Julia Barnes (Charles) of Raynham MA, and Tonya Higdon (S.I.) of Kernersville, NC; her nephews, Gregory Mitchell, and Lamarr June, of Winston Salem, NC and Donald Correia Jr. of New Bedford, MA; her nieces, Shaylene Correia, and Ciara Correia of New Bedford, MA; her great nephews, Kahari Morgan of Stockton, CA, Jayden Correia, and Jordyn Correia, of New Bedford, MA, Lamarr June Jr., and Josiah June, of Winston Salem, NC, and Gregory Mitchell Jr. of Raleigh, NC; and her great nieces, Bryahna June, and Tionna Mitchell, of Winston Salem, NC, Ray'Lynn Cowart of New Bedford, MA, Pa'Shyn June of Winston Salem, NC and Kia'Myah Cowart of New Bedford, MA; her uncle, Harry Smith of Walnut Cove, NC; her aunts, Lucille Sapp, Znovia Penn, Blanche Bowman, and Darlene Smith of Walnut Cove, NC. Special Friends Waylon Graham, and Mildred Black, of Winston Salem, NC; as well as a host of other cousins, friends and extended family.
"Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am Saturday December 31, 2022, from Douthit's. The family will receive friends at 11:00am. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
