On the evening of Tuesday, June 29, 2021, our beloved Anna Lois Clement Sprinkle was summonsed to her eternal dwelling by our Lord and Heavenly Father. She wasn't taken, but folder her hands and said, 'It's time," and our Heavenly Father summonsed and said, "Come daughter."
If you remember tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. If you knew softball at Carver School on a warm summer afternoon, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. If you knew a cool dip in the Winston Lake swimming pool on a blazing August day, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. If you knew backyard BBQs on any given Tuesday evening, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. If you knew where to get an eternal drink of coffee, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. If you knew where to celebrate Christmas or Easter and get fat doing it, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. If you knew the books of the Bible, the Twenty Third Psalm by memory, Vacation Bible School, Mattie E. Coleman Circle, and the Shouse Temple Missionary Board, then you knew Ann Sprinkle. Fish fries and Easter egg hunts; Harvest Teas and knowing when to say, "yes ma'am, no sir, and I've had a plenty, may I be excused, please." Then you knew Ann Sprinkle.
Anna Sprinkle, more fondly addressed as just Ann, was born to the late William and Harriet Clement in Winston-Salem, NC, on the blessed day of November 21, 1932. She decided to lay down her earthly vesture and go to our Father's house in the evening hours of June 29, 2021. Late in the evening when nobody's watching. That's how Ann did life. In the morning you simply woke up to full breakfast, a full program, a full day already laid out and like an angel of our Lord, you never saw her work or sweat.
Anna was a graduate of Atkins High School and received her formal education from Winsalem Business College. God richly added unto her life through the marriage of her longtime sweetheart, the late Oscar Leon Sprinkle, fondly called, "Bill." To that union three children were born, Wanda, Felicia, and Harriet. Ann was a dedicated and tenured employee of The Western Electric Company as a Switchboard Operator, later to become BellSouth, LLC, building electronics boards, and further to become AT&T when she tenured as a Layout Operator, today's Engineering equivalent, where she retired after nearly 30 years of effortlessly dedicated service. Alongside her husband, she performed uncompromising work in the ministry and her community. Her childhood devotion included fellowship at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston-Salem where her parents, children, and other family where dutiful members. Anna continued our Father's work as Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Church Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, Lay person, Community Outreach, and any way that she was called, she tirelessly performed it at Shouse Temple CME Church. Ann was a pillar to her community, a mother to every child, preparing Christmas bags filled with oranges, nuts, candies and other goodies for children in the community. Every child could depend on nurturing and nourishment at Vacation Bible School. And if you want to know Jesus? Just ask 'Mrs. Sprinkle,' who would ensure Mr. Sprinkle picked you up in his van for church on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Ann was a diligent worker to Prelates in her church and her community. Her philosophy was always, "Seek Jesus and He will give you rest." We have all heard that expression of love from her a time or many. She leaves to cherish and adore her precious and life-transforming memories, her children, Wanda (Leslie), Felicia (Darin), and Harriet (Tommy); her grandchildren, Sean Sr. (Jasmyne), Leslie (Angel), Carl, Carmelita, Walter 3rd (Janice), Dawn, Duane, Jasmine (Tremaine), and Blake-Cacey; her great grandchildren, Kalil, Sean Jr., Ariana, Drake, Emory, Kaya, Lyric, NeZiah, Christian, Duane Jr., Jacobe, Leif, Chloe, Jonah, Azari, Judah, Cartier, Kerez, Judaea, and Cashmere; her dearest brother, George Clement (Alma); sister in law, Brenda Kaye Sprinkle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A public viewing will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 1pm until 5pn at Douthit's.
Eternity celebration is commencing at 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. for the family visitation with the memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July, 8, 2021, at, Douthit Funeral Services located at 515 Specialty Park Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
