Mr. Grashaun Jones

If I can see it, I can believe it. If I can believe it, I can do it!” Grashaun Jones Grashaun Lequan Jones was born in Winston-Salem, NC on May 13, 1993. He went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2023. In December, 2022, Grashaun was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, a kidney cancer associated with the sickle cell trait. Grashaun was the beloved son of Walter Jones Sr. and Tangela Hines Jones, both of Winston-Salem, NC. He is survived by Anita Sansbury, Margaretta Hines (grandmother), and a host of siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Grashaun enjoyed the comfort of his parents’ home. As only a mother can, Tangela cared for him with unyielding love and compassion. Holding his mother’s hand, Grashaun’s last word was “Ma.” Grashaun was surrounded daily by the unfailing love and support of his siblings. His siblings include: Tamika Jackson of Charlotte, NC, Krishauna Hines-Gaither (Julian) of Los Angeles, CA, Latisha Stuckey of Winston-Salem, NC, GraylonSansbury (Towanna) of Winston-Salem, NC Gratez Penn (Jessica) of Kernersville, NC, Gerena Sansbury (Lamondre) of Winston-Salem, NC, Garlon Sansbury Ball (Erica NoreydiAlvarenga) of Winston-Salem, NC, Walter Jones Jr. (Bryanna)of Winston-Salem, NC, Gralicia Anderson (Dedrick) of Tuscan, Arizona, Grashiere Jones of Bremerton, Washington, and GeronLipscomb of Winston-Salem, NC. Doctors consistently stated that they had never seen so much family support for a patient. Grashaun attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools. He was a proud graduate of his beloved alma mater, Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem. His loving teacher, Ms. Aisha Booth Horton stated, “Grashaun was an excellent math tutor and he helped many students at QEA while he attended. He was outgoing, very friendly and extremely organized.” Pursuing his love of drawing and design, shortly after graduation, Grashaun enrolled in the architecture program at Forsyth Technical Community College. Grashaun was also an avid New Orleans Saints fan. In honor of his favorite team, please enjoy the black and gold accents throughout today’s homegoing service. Grashaun was an accomplished artist, a lover of Japanese anime illustrations, and one of his favorite hobbies was archery. He could be seen on a nice day enjoying target practice with his archery set. Grashaunnicknamed himself, the Warrior King. Throughout his sickness, Grashaun never complained. Our Warrior King is now enjoying his crown of glory. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior years ago, and had faith until the very end. In a Facebook post for the world to see, Grashaunwrote the following on January 11, 2022. “As I, Grashaun Jones, walk into my prophesied New Horizon I am saying goodbye to fear, doubt, shame, drugs, alcohol, negativity, bad habits, influences and environments. All things that held me back from rising, I cast out of me. Now I say hello to peace, joy, love, strength, faith, abundance, and prosperity as I declare and decree by God's will!!!! A public viewing will be held Friday May 26, 2023 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit’s. Funeral services will be will be held Saturday May 27, 2023 at 11:30 am from Greater Church and interment will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at 11:00am .Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services..
