Mr. Richard Donald Roane Sr.

On Sunday February 22, 2026, at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Hospital Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend answered God's call and made his transitional journey from earth to Heaven with his family at his side. "Dickie" as he was known to all, was born February 25,1943 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to the late Aaron W. Roane and Ardell Cain Roane. Richard was a 1962 graduate of Paisley Senior High School, where he played basketball and was named best basketball player in his senior year. He was Veteran of United States Army, and his work experience was with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a Tech Inspector after 33 years of services. Richard worked two jobs, while he was working at R.J Reynolds Tobacco Company and after his retirement, he continued working at Mineral Spring School and Forsyth Tech, He finally retired at Forsyth Tech when his children told him "No More" you need rest and enjoy life. Richard had two hobbies, playing golf and watching the Pittsburg Steelers football games. But more than that he loves to be in church singing Gods praises, even during his sickness he would say “I hope I can get better soon,” so I can get back to church, but the Master had other plans for his life. He was a member of Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, but later he joined Union Baptist for a while, in the year of 2025 he came back to Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church for this is where God want him to be. Richard was preceded in death by this parents, three sisters, Cecila Cot Hollywood, FLA., Ann Turner, Elon, N.C. and Christina Gore, Winston-Salem, N.C, three brothers, Aarone Roane Jr, Hollywood, FLA., Robert Roane, California and William Roane, Winston-Salem, N.C. Those cherishing loving memories are his high School sweetheart of 59 years Jacqueline Roane, a daughter Deborah D. Roane, Robert L. (Donna) Roane Sr., Richard D. Roane Jr. (Decease). Seven Grand Children Richard III, Kevin, Blake, Robert Jr, Al'Lyse, Deshjna, Rannia and two Great grands Da’Siah and Amari, three sisters Sylvia Little, Durham, N.C., Marian Menzie, Little Rock, Ark. and Linda Roane Winston- Salem, N.C. and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many many friends.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 12:00PM at Zion Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00AM at the church. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the funeral home. Professional arrangements are entrusted to Douthit Funeral Services
