We give all glory and thanks to Almighty God for the precious gift of the life of Timothy Ellerby Sr., who was born on April 1, 1953, in Young Islands, South Carolina, and was called home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2025, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We rejoice in the years God blessed us to share with him — years filled with love, laughter, and faith.
Timothy was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Ellerby, and a proud father to his three children: Timothy Ellerby Jr., Jessica Ellerby (Ricky Gray), and Sierra Ellerby. His love and guidance will forever live in their hearts.
He is also survived by his siblings: Eddie Holmes (Evelyn), Shirley Ellerby, and William Ellerby III; his beloved aunt Elnora (Jerry Ellerby); his special cousin and devoted friends: Carla Thomas, Elladine Jackson, Glenn Ellerby, Louise Fludd, Essie Brisbon, James Murray, and George Speaks. His loving and devoted caregiver, Julian Moore. He leaves behind a host of cousins and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Timothy lived a life of hard work and dedication. He retired from being a truck driver at Coburg Dairy and Quality Carriers, and also from his role as a Chemical Tank Engineer at Dana Suttles. His strong work ethic and commitment were matched only by his devotion to his family and his faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ellerbe and Dianne Smalls. He was a proud alumnus of Baptist Hill High School, Class of 1971, where he built lifelong friendships and memories.
While our hearts grieve, we give thanks to God for allowing us to walk this journey with Timothy. We celebrate the love he shared, the faith he lived, and the joy he brought to those who knew him. We find comfort knowing that he has finished his race and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7
