    Mrs. Dorothy Hill

    May 20, 1929 - December 5, 2021

    Mrs. Dorothy Lucille Glenn Hill, 92, was born on May 20, 1929 in Pfafftown, North Carolina to Charlie and Ida Glenn. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 5, 2021 in the comfort of her home. Dorothy was a member of the very first graduating class of Carver High School in 1950. She was united in holy matrimony to Charlie Edward Hill on July 10, 1954. This union produced four daughters. She retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools System after serving for several years in the nutrition department. Dorothy was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Trustee wife, member of the Pastor’s Aide, and the Missionary Society. As a mother, her home, especially her kitchen, was always open to everyone. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her eight siblings – Cleaven, Charlie Gray, Gene, Nina, Annie Pearl, Almeta, Edith and Minnie Ruth, and her twin grandsons – Marcus and Marquis Mack. She leaves to cherish sweet memories, four daughters – Audrey H. Searcy of the home; Wanda H. Clark (Thomas), Charlotte, NC; Sandra H. Mack (Tobias, Sr.), Lexington, NC; and Penny H. Speas (Bobby, Sr.), Greensboro, NC. Fourteen grandchildren – Yakhia Price (Lovaner); Ayanna McCaskey (Bernard), Jasmine Lamkin, Tobias Mack, II, Zavious Mack (TaShenma), Bobby “BJ” Speas, Bryson Speas, Myrakle Clark, and Coleman Mack. Raymond Brown, Temeshia Brown, Torey Brown, Chad Clarkand Timetra Anthony. Eleven great grandchildren - Saniya, Tristan, Noelle, Makayla, Gianna, Charli, DaSun, Kendrick, Taylor, Katarah and Kedrick. One great great grandchild – Lea. A treasured godson and his family – Vernon and Kim Brown and daughter, Bri. One sister-in-law, Mattie D. Glenn; a devoted cousin, Sandy Payne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Douthit Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Piney Grove Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
