Mrs. Emma Brown Glenn
September 11, 1939 - April 19, 2020
Mrs. Emma Glenn 80, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020. Emma Brown-Glenn was born in Reidsville, North Carolina to James and Roberta Brown September 11, 1939. She grew up in the city and joined Rocky Ridge Baptist Church as a youth and was actively involved in Sunday school, junior usher ministry and VBS. Emma’s early school days were spent at Reidsville Elementary and Booker T. High School, where she graduated. She always enjoyed learning and achieving academic goals. Emma attended two cosmetology schools and received her license from Dudley in Greensboro, North Carolina. Emma had the courage and integrity to tell you who she was and offered herself to remind us all that none of us are perfect. Emma leaves a legacy that shows a long life of service to her family, community and church. She was a person who was not going to give up, and if you told her no, she was going to find a way to do whatever it was that she needed to do. Emma was a loving, caring, giving person, and she loved everybody and we really and truly loved her. She gave the Lord all the credit for making her life, husband Clyde, Dwight (Crystal), Terrell (Michelle), and grandchildren spiritually strong. She was one of the pillars of the church community and worked diligently to usher herself at the appointed time and served the youth ushers well. Working with the youth was truly the ministry she had been called too. Over at least thirty years, her membership of good standing included the following ministries: Deaconess, vice chairperson, Culinary Staff, Sunday school and VBS. Emma received several awards from public service organizations. Her ability to present workshops for children that proclaimed the great Biblical truths of the Christian faith in a clear, understandable and practical way, always filled with humorous and poignant illustrations, made her a much beloved teacher and the children from the old church site to where we preside today, loved “Miss Glenn.” Emma was looked upon as the trend setter among her team members within the bowling league and she was fondly and affectionately known as the “Diva” of her league. The memory of Emma’s life is left to be cherished by her loving husband, Clyde for many years, two sons; Dwight Glenn (Crystal), Terrell Glenn (Michelle), three grandchildren; Cristin Watson (Alricardo), De’Anna Glenn and De’Ja Glenn. Six great grandchildren: Ca’Nyia Watson, Ca’Mora Watson, Ca’Lyna Watson, Alvicardo Watson, Lyric McGill, Kingston Glenn. Two Sisters: Mary Brown and Roberta Peterson. A devoted niece, Brenda Glenn, dedicated and devoted cousins, special church members and community neighbors. Emma was an extremely kind, gentle person who seemed mostly unaffected by a lot of nonsense events. She was a real sweetheart - down-to-earth Rest in peace, Emma.....you were absolutely one-of-a-kind! A public viewing will be held Friday, April 24, 2020 at Douthit's from 2pm-5pm. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Trellis Supportive Care.
