Mrs. Phyllis Hairston

May 10, 1940 - April 20, 2022

On Wednesday April 20, 2022, our dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend Phyllis F. Hairston passed away peacefully at Novant Heath Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late James Lee and Ada Craig Flynt on May 10, 1940. Phyllis was graduate of Atkins High School, class of 1958. She earned her cosmetology license from La Mae Beauty College in 1965. Phyllis worked for many years at the Bethlehem Center as a kindergarten teacher. She later joined B.E. Aerospace where she retired with over 30 years of services. She loved her dog Sweetie Pie, working in her yard with a beautiful garden. One of her favorite past times was entertaining family and friends. For many years Phyllis and her husband enjoyed traveling around the country and abroad. No one will ever forget their famous cookouts and pool parties on Cassell Street. She also loved her 2 other dogs, Sugar and babyface. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 43 years, Robert T. Hairston. she leaves to cherish two sisters, Linda M. Flynt and Pamela L. Davis, both of Winston-Salem: two devoted nieces, Lisa M. Flynt and Keya L. Glover; one devoted nephew, Eugene Baskin, Jr., and a host of other relatives and Friends.A public viewing will be held Thursday April 28, 2022, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Friday April 29, 2022, at 12:00pm from Douthit's. Family will receive friends at 11:30am. Interment will follow on Tuesday May 3, 2022, in Salisbury National Cemetery.
