Mr. Barry Euguene Martin, 64, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away on August 30, 2025, in his hometown after an eight-month battle with a spinal cord injury. Born on September 3, 1960, in Winston-Salem, Barry was the son of the late Nathaniel Martin Jr. and Blondine Grintin. He remained deeply rooted in his community throughout his life and was known for his enduring strength and devotion to those he loved. Barry proudly served his country with honor and distinction for 15 years in the United States Army. His military service was a testament to his dedication and resilience—qualities that defined him both in uniform and in everyday life. Barry dedicated many years of his life to meaningful work that reflected his values of service and commitment. After his honorable military service, Barry worked in logistics and transportation, where he was respected for his reliability and leadership. Barry was a proud member of the Tarheel Paper Supply company team, where he planned to retire at the end of this year.
He was a devoted husband to Cynthia Martin and a cherished father to Brittany Griffin, Jakita Martin, Candise Eldridge, and Tony Burney. He also shared a close bond with his siblings: Tony Jones, Dale Martin Sr. (Earline), Kenneth Martin (Latonya), Marthaiel Grinton (Montrea), Kaytrina Smith (Tony), Bertha Mitchell (Joseph), and Nathel Johnson. Barry's legacy continues through his 19 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forward the values he instilled. Barry's life was marked by a love for his family and an unwavering commitment to those around him. He embraced his role as a grandfather with pride and joy, finding deep fulfillment in watching the next generation grow. A public viewing will be held Tuesday September 9, 2025, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. A graveside services will be held Wednesday September 10, 2025, at 11:00am from Salisbury National Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
