Bishop Tommie Lee Thomas

Bishop Tommie Lee Thomas took his first breath on this side of life on September 26, 1950, in the city of Winston-Salem, NC. He was born to the Late Mary Francis Callihan and the Late Thomas Moore. He was one of ten children. school systems was a product of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County pubic at a young age, Bishop Thomas was an entrepreneur with two businesses, Tommie's Shoe Shining and Tommie's Commercial Cleaning Services. He was a driver for Easter Seal Transportation, Experiment - Self Reliant Transportation, and also a Winston-Salem Transit Authority Trans-Aid driver.
By the divine orchestration of God, Faye Patricia Duncan became the wife of Tommie Lee Thomas on November 25, 1978.
Papa, as he was affectionately known, was also a van driver and preschool teacher for the F.D. Thomas Educational and Enrichment Center.
His community involvement was undeniable, and he was a true pillar of the community. His involvement included feeding the hungry, mentoring young men, helping individuals to find jobs through the Prison Re-entry program.
He was a member of St. Paul Apostolic Church of Christ under the pastorate of Bishop James Funderburk.
His call to ministry came at the hand of Bishop Harold Ivory Williams of Mount Calvary Holy Church and there he was elevated through the ranks of ministry.
On December 2, 1994, Bishop Thomas was consecrated as a Bishop in the Lord's

Church by the hand of, His Eminence, Apostle Sylvester Davis Johnson, Macedonia Worship Center, Winston-Salem, NC. He then submitted himself to the tutelage and covering of Apostle Johnson.
Bishop Thomas was sent to serve as the pastor of Mt. Sinai Pentecostal Holiness Church in Darlington, SC for 2 years. After this assignment was over, he started Pneuma Pentecostal Church in Darlington, SC affectionately known as "Pneuma #6" and pastored there for 13 years.
Bishop Thomas loved God and God's people. The first question he would ask when he met you is "Have you been baptized in Jesus' Name?" Bishop was a praiser. He would often break out in a song, clap in hands hard as if the devil was in between them and shuffle across the floor in a dance. Bishop at any time day or night, in any setting would be sure to make you laugh or crack a joke.
Bishop Thomas shared his life and collaborated in ministry with his life's partner of 48 years, Apostle Faye Duncan-Thomas.
Bishop Thomas is survived by his loving wife Apostle Faye Thomas, his beloved children; Percy C. (Doreen) Payne, Dereck A. Duncan, Megan R. (Bishop Brandon) Mingo, Autumn Moore, and Christopher Moore. His grandchildren; Ebony, D'Angelo, Eden, Brayden, Bryson, Juden, and Jhett, his great grandchildren, Azuri and Breyen.
The Bishop is survived by his siblings; Charles (Mary) Norris, Mary (Bishop James) Funderburk, Robert (Patricia) Norris, Benjamin (Iris) Norris, and Lorenzo (Barbara Anne) Thomas. He has a host of Sister-in-Laws, Brother-in-Laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and the saints of Jesus Christ.
Being a caregiver means giving selflessly, without expecting anything in return. A caregiver's greatest strength lies in their ability to put the needs of others before. their own. The family would like to thank Deacon Leroy Sanders for his unwavering love, support, loyalty and care to Bishop for over 30+ years.
The family would also like to thank the countless of other individuals, near and far who held a special place in Bishop's heart. A public viewing will be held Friday March 28, 2025, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 29, 2025, at 12pm from The Love Cathedral 100 E. Sunrise Avenue Thomasville NC. The family will receive friends at 11am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
