Obituary

Mrs. Catherine C. Johnson was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 18, 2021. She was born January 15, 1952 in Winston Salem, NC where she graduated from Atkins High School. She went on to become a teacher at Speas Elementary. She also worked as a housekeeper at Ramada Inn and Graylyn Estate. Catherine's greatest work accomplishment was being a faithful and dedicated member of New Liberty Full Gospel Baptist Ministries. She was a Deaconess and served in many capacities, she was the Superintendent of the Sunday School Department, taught the Adult Class, and Vacation Bible School. Catherine and her husband were also custodians of the church, giving her time and energy, physically and financially, to the worship of Jesus Christ and serving the ministry. She also later became a member of Sanctuary of Praise and Worship. She was a loving and caring Mother, Wife, and Sister, and if church was going on that's where Catherine wanted to be. Catherine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Elizabeth C. Miller and James C. Miller. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and dedicated husband Robert L. Johnson, her two devoted children Jerrene C. Abbitt (Joeseph) and James B. Campbell. Her sisters Carol Cousar (William), Linda Beal (Marion), Patricia Williams, and Joyce Harrell, her brother James Miller (Mary), and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friend.A public viewing will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. A private funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Douthit's. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
