Charles Baggs was born October 27, 1952, in Newark NJ to the late Johnson Eugene and Mary Agnes Baggs. He departed this life on January 9, 2023.
Charles affectionately known as "Charlie" attended Newark public schools graduating from West High School in 1970. Upon graduation Charlie worked various jobs throughout his young adult life until the 80's where he joined the company of Hayward Industries as a Machine Operator. The company would soon relocate to Clemmons, North Carolina. Charlie gave 30+ years of dedicated service and officially left in the mid 2000's.
Charlie, nicely became acclimated after relocating to Winston, Salem, during which he became a member of First Waughtown Baptist Church. Prior to the decline of his health, Charlie served on the Usher Board and was a Cub Scout Leader.
Charlie loved Fishing, listening to Oldie but Goodies, Old School R&B, avid TV watcher and a die-hard NY Giants fanatic. Charlie had an eye for fashion and a love for nice sneakers.
Charlie was preceded in death by his sister Louise Barden.
Charlie leaves to cherish his loving memories: Niece Michelle Mayers, Temple Hills, MD, two Great grandnephews Michael Terrell Mayers, Hyattsville MD, Nicholas Deshaun Mayers, Alexandria, VA. Great Great Niece/Nephew Niveya Mayers and Ashton Collier two bonus daughters Yalonda Saidou (Abdul) Charlotte, NC, Margaret Mack, Pineville, NC. Bonus son/nephew G. Anthony Parham, Charlotte, NC; five bonus grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Very special friend Rovina Mack, Winston Salem, NC, A host of cousins and friends.
Special thanks to Shirley Mitchell (sister/friend) for her never ending conditional love and support given to our uncle. A public viewing will be held Friday January 20, 2023, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. from Douthit's. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
