Mr. Charles Edward Vance was born December 30, 1949, to Mae Frances Harper and adopted father David Vance in Winston Salem NC. Charles attended the local public schools in Winston Salem NC before relocating to Fayetteville NC, where he attended EE Smith High School. He then relocated with his family to Nurnberg Germany where he graduated from Nurnberg American High School in 1968.
He was employed by the Winston Salem Police department from April 1974 until September 2000.
At the time of his passing, he was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church
Charles enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and watching, attending and traveling with geriatric crew to WSSU Football games.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, sister Althenia O. Vance and nephew Rodney J. Vance.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his daughters Diedra Williams (Michael Sr.) of New Mexico and Lanita Dixon (Raleigh Scales) and Ciekda Vance of Winston Salem; his sons Dmon Robinson (Shannon) of Atlanta GA and Corbett Vance of Winston Salem. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, LaReshia Glenn, Courtney Bailey, Michael Williams Jr., Khyan Vance, Marcus Williams, Malik Lane Sr, Makayla Payne (Dayzha), Ashia Vance, LaKiya Payne, Heaven Robinson, Shilynne Robinson, Samantha White and Aubrey Vance. Also left to cherish his memory are his great grandchildren; Zaydeen Vance, King Vance, Levi Vance, Zion Vance, Kalei Blanco and Kyrie Williams, Malaysia Lane, Malik Lane Jr. loving brother Alphonso (Thelma) Vance and three nieces Tameka Vance, LaTandra Vance-Baldwin and Olivia Vance and their children RaJzon Gandy, Carrington Baldwin, Jahmearia Baker, Jahkeem Baker, Amora Brown and Marquis Vance, Gwedolyn Vance (mother of Diedra and Lanita) and Princetta Vance (mother of Corbett and Ciekda Vance). A very devoted friend Larry Gossett and the Gossett Family and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A public viewing will be held Wednesday July 13, 2022, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 12:00pm from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
