Mr. David Lee Smith, Jr., was born on October 12, 1961, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to David Lee Smith, Sr., and Clara Brown. David enjoyed attending Galilee Baptist Church to hear God's word. He was a member at the downtown YMCA, a devoted family man, and loved to make everyone laugh. David was unexpectedly called home on February 6, 2022.

David was preceded in death by his Mother Clara Brown, Grandmother Mary Thomas, Son Damarion Brown, and Sister Sophia Smith.

He is survived by his daughter Cherie Hines; four grandchildren Kristin Islar, Zaria Smith, Ashley Smith, and Christopher Hines, Jr.; two great grandchildren Kaylani Smith and Jayden Smith; lifelong partner Serina Myers; six brothers Tyrone (Francoise) Brown, Clarence (Jennifer) Brown, Stan Brown, Michael (Lonnetra) Smith, Steve (Evette) Brown, and Tracy Smith; three sisters Gloria Brown, Beverly Brown, and Shirley Smith; best friend Jason Swain; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Douthit Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, 2:00 pm at Douthit Funeral Services. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
