Joe Wright began his life on June 5, 1938 with late West Benson and Lena Wright in Greenville, SC. Where he grew up in a small town of Simpsonville SC. Joe worked in his teenage years as a farmer where he met his teenage love Ms. Annie Ruth Shell, they later married. Joe went on to work for Duke Mayonnaise, as Joe and Annie Wright, started a family in Simpsonville SC. Joe and Annie later moved their family to Winston Salem, NC where they continued to expand their lovely family an additional six children.
Joe and his family joined the ministry Saint Peters Apostolic Church. Where he served as a faithful member as a deacon of his church. Joe Worked at The City of Winston Salem for 30 years. After retiring from City of Winston Salem, he worked at The Oaks of Forsyth for 10 years. As Joe was always a man of faith, he joined Genesis Outreach Ministry where he served as a deacon of the church for many years later. Joe enjoyed watching Westerns, spending time with his family, and helping raise his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. Joe had a very giving spirit and a warm and loving heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; West Benson and Lena Wright, 3 sisters; Lee Alice Meridith, Heneryetta Wright, and Amanda Wright, his 2 daughters; Sherby and Gennette Wright. Joe is survived by his sister Georgia Perkins and he leaves to continue his legacy his 5 sons by his first wife, Annie Shell Hickman; Joely Wright, Kerin" (Marselle) Wright, Norman Wright, Joe Allen Wright, Vernon Wright, and Christopher (Beth) McMordie by Karen McMordie; 3 step children Lori Barnes, Mary Gauldin, and Loretta Hernandez Lira; over 20 grandchildren, over 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 nephew; Greg (Veronica) Wright; 1 niece; Jackie (Eric) White; and a host of cousins and friends. A public viewing will be held Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 at 12pm from Genesis Victory Outreach Center. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
