Eddie Alder Carlton, born on July 16, 1955, in Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on March 20, 2024, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, at 68. He was a devoted father, survived by his children Carlos Carlton (Lawanda) and Kimberley Carlton, their mother Carmen Williams Carlton, and eight siblings Mitchell Carlton (Shannon), Candice Carlton Ray, Charles Carlton, Bishop Steve Carlton (Linda), Sharon Thomas (Donald), Kathy Carlton, Alexander Groves, Drake Groves and also two cherished best friends, Kim Dunlap and Naplious "Bobby Jr." Williams (Best Man and Brother-In-Law). As well as a host of nephews and nieces.

Eddie was known for being kind and generous, bringing joy to everyone around him. He attended East Forsyth High School before serving in the United States Army from 1974 to 1988. Eddie was a true sports enthusiast, enjoying boxing, football, and various other sports.

Although he wasn't an active member of any church, he loved Christ and believed in the Word of God, and that is where he found solace—when he was not attending church. Eddie's passing is preceded by his father, Charlie Carlton; his mother, Evangelist Roberta Foster Carlton Groves; his brother, Ronald Carlton; and his uncles, Robert Foster and Danner Foster.

A public viewing will be held Monday March 25, 2024 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit;s A funeral service will honor Eddie's life on Tuesday, March 26, at the Cathedral of Refuge, 534 Oak Summit Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 at 11:30am. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Eddie will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but the memory of his laughter will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace and laughter.
