Mrs. Elaine G. Shuler was born on March 28, 1940, to the late Oscar T. Settles and the late Idora L. Prevard of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was a graduate of Atkins High School,Class of 57'. She demonstrated her love for family and community as she served as the president of the Lybrand, Jones, Franklin, Knight, and Brown family reunions, an active member of the Shuler and Lybrand, family Sundays conferences, an influential president of the Dunlieth Avenue Good Neighbor Club, a transitional leader of the Belews Street Vicinity Reunion, a phenomenal Eastward Chief Judge for the board of elections, a stellar vocalist of the vocal choir, and a member of the Silver Sneaker Program at Fulton YMCA. She started her Christian journey at Mars Hill Baptist Church. In 1995, she was ordained a Deaconess of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under Bishop John C. Parks. She was also a faithful member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.
On February 17, 2025, she departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hayward Lee Shuler, Sr., a grandson Antwan Cureton, a son Levi Bryant, and her sister Elloraine Brown.
She leaves to cherish her priceless memories, two sons: Hayward Shuler Jr. and Dannie DeForest (Antoinette) Shuler; three daughters Dr. Haysetta D. Shuler, Danita S. (Bernard) Washington, and Thomasena J. Lytle; a daughter-in-law Minister Lucy Bryant; 21 grandchildren, Jason Caldwell, Rahmel Shuler, Donte' Flow, Tiona Howell, Arnett Arnett, Karen Arnett, Danielle Shuler, Simone Turner, Quinton Crocket, Quincy Lytle, Porshay Howell, Tyeka Wilkes, Tia Wilkes, Mary Van Eaton (Eddie) Hayes, Orlando Bryant, Levi Bryant Jr., Jermey (Charlene) Transou, Jermaine Oglesby, Elantra Love, Jasmine Love, and Dominque Campbell; 40 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren: two devoted cousins Barbara Jean Lybrand and Alicia Partlow, and a countless number of loving cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 22, 2025, at 11:00am from Douthit's and interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:30 am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
