Elder Marcella Gertrude Ferguson transitioned on Monday October 12, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center. Marcella was surrounded by her 7 children. Marcella was born on June 21, 1945 in East Spencer N.C. to William Edward Slade (deceased) and to Veatrice Victoria Frost (deceased). Marcella resided in East Spencer and became a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church on Long Street. Marcella was an avid basketball player for Dunbar High School and finished her education at Anderson High School in WS. Marcella was married to Chester Ferguson (deceased) and leaves to cherish her memories of her seven children, Pamela Knuckles Chandler (Leland), Robert Knuckles 111, Lynn Knuckles Darby, Gregory Knuckles, Minister Sheryl Lazenby (Jeff), Darlene Jackson, Re'Shea Conrad (Ken), Marcella has one living sister Marie Baskin. Marcella's other siblings were Priscilla Slade, Lonnie Slade, Edith LeGrande all deceased. Marcella was always known for working somewhere, her previous jobs were NorthWest Child Development, she volunteered 10 years at Christmas Cheering House, she had her own cleaning services named Ferguson Cleaning Services, Marcella loved God and she loved going to church. On any given day you could hear her saying "what a mighty God we serve" Throughout her lifetime she was a member of several churches in WS. from St. Peters Apostolic Church, Ambassador Cathedral of Christ. Marcella received her Ministers License at Mt. Nebo under the leadership of the late Bishop Jake J. Johnson and later ordained as an Elder at Macedonia True Vine Penecostal Holiness Church under the leadership of Apostle S. D. Johnson. At the time of her transition she was a faithful member of 17 years at Abba Fathers Ministries under the leadership of (at that time) Pastor Scottie White. Marcella attended many services until her health started to decline. Marcella had 12 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Marcella had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
