Emma Lee White Blair was born on July 16, 1936, to the union of Mary Elizabeth White and Clyde Oscar Lewis in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the fourth of five children and was educated in the Forsyth County School System, graduating from Carver High School in 1956. Upon graduation, she worked in numerous areas of customer service and was known for her kindness and friendly demeanor during days of work and in the community.
"Ms. Emma" as she was affectionately called, served as a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she sang in the choir and demonstrated acts of service for many years prior to failing health.
Her interests included spending time with family, friends and neighbors, cooking, and taking care of her beloved dog.
Emma Blair, 85, departed this life on Friday, February 18, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents and three older siblings: Annie Mae Allen (John), Regina White Hynes (Clarence), Samuel White (Juanita). She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted sister, Patricia White Douthit (Elmore), five nephews: Patrick Douthit (Shameka), Eric Johnson, Clarence Hynes, David Hynes (Katie), Donald Hynes, niece: Marie Hynes and a host of great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday February 26, 2022, at 11:00am from New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. There will be no public viewing.
