Obituary

Eric Duane Horton was born to the late William A. Carter and Pamela M. Horton on December 29, 1971. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Dallas TX. Eric received his elementary and secondary education from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools. He received an
Associate degree in Applied Science from Central Carolina Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Shaw University in January 2000. Eric received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. O. B. Cook at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Eric moved to Plainfield, NJ in 2004 to live with his aunt, Faye and cousins, Simone & Darhel. He was loved by his NJ family and friend's while living there prior to moving to Texas. Eric resided in Dallas with roommates and devoted friends, Joshua Seacrest and Issac Adams. For the last ten years Eric had been working in various culinary positions while living in Dallas. He started his own business, "Blossum #LOOK YOUR BEST," four years ago which was
growing and expanding in other cities. Eric loved to travel and had recently been to his Winston Salem home celebrating Thanksgiving with family and friends. He also made a recent trip to Dominican
Republic. Eric leaves to cherish dear and precious memories to his mother Pamela Horton, Winston-Salem; grandmother, Helen Horton of Winston-Salem; aunt, Alice Faye Horton-Mays of Plainfield, NJ.
uncle, Steve (Bertha) Valentine and aunt, Kathy Horton; godmother, Alice Faye Nicholson, all of Winston-Salem, NC; surviving cousins, Simone Mays (Luke) Burroughs of NJ and Darhel (Marifer) Mays of
NY, Aaron (Chanel) James, Anthony (Christina) James, Lori and Brian Harris, Shalitta (Cassius) Reaves all of Winston-Salem, Victor (Winona) Horton of TX; a great uncle, Richard (Janice) Horton of
Asheville; and great-aunt, Euphalia (James) Farrah of Pittsboro; great uncle Kermit Degraffenreidt of NC; a host of other cousins and family members who also live in Winston-Salem, NC Eric was also very close to the Mrs. Dorothy Wilder, Lucinda & Glenn, LaNaye and Michelle families. A public viewing will be held Friday January 17, 2025, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am from New Hope Baptist Church and interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:30am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
