On Tuesday morning December 5, 2023, our dear son, sibling, cousin and friend Eugene Baskin, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home. He was born to Linda M. Flynt and Eugene Baskin, Sr. on December 14, 1974. Eugene was a graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School, Class of 1994. He worked for several years as a truck driver for Budweiser Distributors. He then ventured out on his own as an independent driver, opening his own business as Baskin and Baskin Trucking, LLC. Eugene also worked for Volume Trucking for a period of time, and also Ruan Trucking. He really loved the trucking industry, just as much as he loved his precious little dog, Rosie. Rosie will surely miss him. Eugene was truly the life of the party. He knew how to entertain; make you laugh and bring pure joy to anybody's life. He never met a stranger, and he definitely knew how to spread his love around. Those are unforgettable moments that will live with us forever.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Lee and Ada Craig Flynt, and Willie Williams. He leaves to cherish his mother, Linda M. Flynt, his dad, Eugene Baskin, Sr, both of Winston-Salem; his devoted sister, Lisa M. Flynt of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Darrell M. Archie of Atlanta, GA, and Edward L. Baskin, Charlotte, NC; his best friend, Anthony Rumph; his devoted friend/sister, Cha'na Lloyd; special friends, Anthony "Buddy" Shepperd, Willette Gambrell, Lisa "X" Baskin, Felicia Simmons, and a host of other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held Thursday December 14, 2023, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Friday December 15, 2023, at 12pm from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
