On Monday, January 5, 2026, our beloved Frances Carridell "Fran" Montgomery peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Born on April 23, 1959, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Fran was the cherished daughter of Kay Frances Eaddy-Montgomery and the late Roosevelt Montgomery. Raised in Winston-Salem, Fran was educated in the WSFC School System. She was a proud graduate of East Forsyth High School, Class of 1977, where she excelled as a track athlete. Following high school, she continued her education at North Carolina A&T State University, embracing the spirit of determination and excellence that defined her life. Fran was a woman of deep compassion, unwavering loyalty, and boundless love. She adored her family especially her mother, children, and grandchildren and she gave selflessly to ensure their happiness. Her kindness, generosity, and radiant spirit touched everyone blessed to know her.She was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Montgomery, and her brothers Roosevelt Montgomery Jr., Solomon Montgomery, Anthony Montgomery, Ronnie Montgomery, and Donnie Montgomery.

Fran leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her children: Johann Haney Jr, Jonathan Haney, Juan Haney, and Jontille Haney; and the love of her life, Johann Haney, all of Winston-Salem, NC. She is also survived by her devoted mother, Ms. Kay Frances Montgomery; her brother, Roger Montgomery (Nora) of Atlanta, GA; her beloved grandchildren Julian Haney, Jha'Mari Haney and Johann Haney III; three.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11am from the Ronnie Douthit Chapel. Family will receive friends at 10:30am from the chapel. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
