George-Washington Ladell Robinson was born on May 4, 1940, to Laura
Cornellia Robinson and Luther Albert in Lewisville, NC. He was educated in
Winston Salem, attending Carver High School. He was a former employee of
Taylor Brothers where he retired. During his leisure time, he took an interest in
breeding Rottweilers until his physical abilities declined. He was a member of
Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley
Bitting Robinson. He was a Mason of Salem Lodge #139. He enjoyed fishing,
laughing, and telling jokes. In light of his warm character and good looks, many
described him as quite charming. He was highly regarded by those who knew
his stern voice and introduced a "tough-love" to those who learned the hard
way. Overall, he was cherishing and compassionate; he would literally give you
the shirt off his back.
