Mrs. Georgia Jones Powell was born on March 29,1936 and departed this life on April 21, 2025 at Trellis Supportive Care of WS after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Estelle Allen, husband, Bobby G. Powell. Daughters, Priscilla Adams and Iralene Brooks.
Georgia is survived by her sons, Anthony D. Powell of Durham, NC, Clayton Powell (Beverly) of Atlanta, Ga, Roger B. Powell (Krista) of WS.
Granddaughters, Etophia Brooks and Jessica Powell of WS. Nikkesha Freeman and Nevaeh Powell of Atlanta, Ga. Grandsons, Lorenzo Brooks Jr. and Roger B. Powell Jr. (Makaila) of WS and Clayton Powell Jr. of High Point.
4 great grandchildren, Selena, Phillip, and Eric Freeman of Atlanta, Ga and Kamari Brooks of TN.
If anyone knew Georgia, knew she spoke her mind. She loved her children and grandchildren unapologetically. Even though she turned 89 years young on March 29, 2025, her loss is deeply felt.
Special thanks to Mr. Calvin Simmons and Mary L. Speas, her neighbors that looked out for her over the years. And Jana Goldsmith Powell and Tish Meyers, her caregivers during her illness. Funeral services will be held Monday April 28, 2025, at 12pm from Douthit's and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens, the family will receive friends at 11:30am, Public viewing will be Monday April 28, 2025, beginning at 9:00 am until service hour. Arrangements are in care of Douthit Funeral Services.
