Grandson Morgan, III, son of Lauren Angel Ashford and Grandson Morgan, Jr., was born
May 10, 1995, in Winston-Salem, NC. Sadly, his light was dimmed and departed this life on
June 10, 2024.
Grandson, Grant, Lil Grandson, Lil G, as he was called by his beloved family and friends, was a bright and shining light. Always animated, whimsical, creative, loving, and kind, he was a product of Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and Charlotte/Mecklenburg County Schools. Grandson graduated from Vance High School in Charlotte, NC in June 2013.
Grandson was a ray of sunshine from the very beginning. His infectious smile and playful eyes could brighten even the darkest of moments. He had the ability to find joy in the simplest pleasure and brought happiness to every room he entered. He embraced every adventure with childlike wonder, never missing an opportunity to explore, discover and try new things. Grandson was a self-taught artist with extraordinary talent, and he loved music. He had a natural gift for creating beautiful and imaginative works of arts.
Beyond his creativity, Grandson had a heart full of love and compassion. Though our time with him was far too short, the impact he made on our lives will forever remain. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who cherished him, and memories that will be treasured for a lifetime and shared with generations to come.
Grandson was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary W. Woods and an aunt, Girdie Johnson.
In addition to his mother and father, he leaves to cherish his memory, step-mother, Shannon Martin, three brothers, Tariq Sterling, Nigel Morgan-Rogers and Ranzy Martin Morgan, two sisters, Kamyree Morgan and Mya Ashford, uncles Sinatra Jeter, Storm Jeter (Yolette), David Morgan, Jason Strickland, LJ Strickland, Willie Ashford III, aunts Jacqueline Tatum, Phyllis Jeter Nunn (Gregory), Robin Jeter, Kay Larrissa Green, Barbara Morgan, Kayla Strickland and great-aunt, Sallie Bailey, best friend, Noah Thomas, and a host of cousins and friends.
We will carry Grandson's spirit with us, allowing it to guide us towards a life filled with laughter, adventure, and compassion. Rest in peace, our dear son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 22, 2024, at 11:00am from Douthit's. There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
