Mr. Harvey Lee Bailey, 94 years young, was called home to be in the glorious presence of our Lord early Saturday morning, November 14, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Hospital. Harvey was born to the late William M. and Della M. Bailey of Pfafftown. He attended Carver High School prior to and graduated thereafter serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He returned home to help his family on the farm. He worked and provided for his family at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and found time to farm be it early morning or late evening. He was survived by four children: Harvey Jr, Linda, Robert (Eddie), and Jennifer (Kay).He was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem A.M.E. Zion Church. While there, he served in many capacities as his health would allow. He sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served on the church's Trustee Board and the Winston-Salem District's Men's Booster Club (his favorite organization). He truly enjoyed the camaraderie, love and fellowship attending AME Zion Conferences, Revivals, and other church activities. He was an avid farmer and provided food for family and friends for very many years. The greens that he washed, corn he shucked and a plethora of vegetables he harvested with love, was just for us. Harvey enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor activities. He was a naturalist. Along with his parents William and Della, he was preceded in death by his brothers and their spouses: Clifton (Cora), Promise (Maggie), and Reverend Robert H, his sisters: Mary Virginia Anthony, Louise B. Harding, Annie M. Bailey, and Catherine B. Anthony. He is also survived by six(6) grandchildren, seven(7) greatgrandchildren, and sister-in-law Berlie P. Bailey and a host of nieces, nephews(grand and great grands), and cousins. Along the way he picked-up other little blessings from God, who loved him as he loved them. That may include you! A public viewing will be held Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:00 am from Bethlehem AME Zion Church in Pfafftown ,NC. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
