Hazel Adams, passed away unexpectedly, on July 11, 2023, at the age of 59 in Winston Salem, NC. Born on April 6, 1964, in Charlotte, NC, Hazel was a devoted family man who faced the challenges of life with unwavering strength and love. His passing was completely unexpected, and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
After losing Bunita16 years ago, Hazel embraced the role of a single father to his two small children without hesitation. He took on the responsibilities of cooking, housekeeping, and being a loving disciplinarian when needed. Hazel's knowledge seemed to have no bounds, and he could hold a conversation on any topic, sometimes to the dismay of others. He was a man with an easygoing nature, generous with his time, a quick smile, and a heart full of love.
Hazel leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Shannon Smith, his daughter, Te'Aira Adams, and his father, Hazel Leo Adams. He also leaves behind two grandsons, Assyan (A.J.) and Shannon II, his sisters: Janet Adams, Annie D. Blackwell (James), Katina Adams, Peggie Wells, Angie McConneyhead, his brother Kevin McLean, his uncles: Robert Adams Jr., Floyd Price and a host of nephews, nieces and extended family.
Hazel was preceded in death by his wife, Bunita Adams, his mother, Jeanette Adams and two brothers: Randolph Adams and Leo Adams Jr.
Hazel attended the WSFC schools. Apart from his dedication to his family, Hazel was a dog lover with a passion for landscaping and working on cars. He found solace and enjoyment in tinkering with engines, working outdoors and spending time with his beloved dog, Champ. A public viewing will be held Thursday July 20, 2023 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation from 12:00-12:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 12:30 pm on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Douthit Funeral Services located at 515 Specialty Park Dr, Winston Salem, NC 27105.
