Jamel Nathaniel Hairston, 42 of Winston-Salem, NC departed this earthly life on Wednesday April 20th, 2022, after battling a long illness. He was born March 8, 1980 in Forsyth County to the late Mr. Harvey Caldwell Flynt and Mrs. Gwendolyn Delores Hairston Brooks.

Jamel attended Forsyth County Public schools. Jamel worked various jobs throughout Forsyth County over the years, prior to his illness. Jamel loved spending time with family and friends and was always the life of the party, as he would often refer to himself, (J-NATE) The Definition, Joking, Neva, Always, Thugin, Every day. Jamel loved to laugh and play jokes. Jamel had an awesome personality that will be forever missed and cherished.

Jamel was preceded in death maternal grandmother, Thelma Mae Hairston, Rosie Mae Dalton, his maternal grandfather, Nathaniel Simpkins, his paternal grandmother, Ruth Massey Flynt, his paternal grandfather, Herman Caldwell Flynt, his father Harvey Caldwell Flynt.

In addition to his mom, Jamel is survived by 2 brothers, Harvey (Nicole) Lamont Hairston, Ronald Artis Neal, two sisters, Shameka Rochelle Waites, Crystal Timmons. Also 2 nieces, 6 nephews, a host of uncles, aunts and cousins, extended family, and friends. A very special cousin/sister, Katherine Ann Hairston and fiancé, Kalisha Pollard . A public viewing will be held Tuesday April 26, 2022 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 27, 2022 at 1pm from Douthit's. Family will receive friends at 12:30pm. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
