James was born in Gastonia, NC in 1942 to the late Willie Goodman and Floreanc Watts He departed this life Saturday August 9, 2025. James worked at RJR for 16 years before retiring at 70 years old. James made a significant impact during his lifetime and is remembered with the love and affection he had for his family. A good man will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gearldine Goodman, of 56 years. He leaves behind to cherish stepdaughter Jeanette (Charles) Goodson, two grandsons, Anthony and Aaron Pearson, and three great-grandchildren. A loving sister, Inza (Ray) Barr. A public viewing will be held Friday August 22, 2025, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 23, 2025, at 1pm from Douthit's. The family will receive friends at 12:30pm. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
