Johnny Edward Owens, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 77. Johnny was born on June 4, 1948, in Carthage, Tennessee, to the late Minister Bettye J. Hash and Daniel Owens. He later made his home in Winston -Salem, North Carolina, where he spent all of adult life. He was a proud graduate of Atkins High School. Johnny dedicated many years of service to the United States Post Office, where he worked as front desk clerk. He was known for his steady demeanor, professionalism, and reliability while assisting customers and serving the public. Johnny completed an Associate Degree in Automotive Mechanics from Forsyth Technical Community College. Outside of his formal employment, he maintained a strong interest in automotive mechanics, regularly working on vehicles in his own garage and assisting others in the community with repairs and maintenance . He also had a longstanding interest in motorcycles and built his own. Johnny proudly served in the United States Army, where he received the National Defense Services Medal, was designated a Marksman with the M-16 rifles, and was honorably discharged. Johnny was preceded in death by his bonus father, Robert F. Hash; his grandmothers, Lena Gray and Willie Bost Jackson; and his brother-in-law , Willie Wesley Mosley III. He is survived by his devoted sister , Phyllis Owens Mosley, and loving nephew, Christian Parks, cousins, along with friends, neighbors, and colleagues who will remember him with respect. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 10:30am at the Kimberly Park Holiness Church. Family will receive friends at 10:00am from the church. There will be a public viewing on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 1pm until 5pm. Interment will be at the Salisbury National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 at 1:30pm.
