Ms. Kathleen Smith Little, lovingly known to all as "Kat," was a bright light born on December 25, 1947, to the cherished Velma Kay Smith and Leo Smith in Winston-Salem, NC. She received her formal education at Anderson High School in her hometown, later pursuing her studies at Winston Salem Business College, where her determination and spirit shone brightly.

A devoted member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Kathleen's faith and warmth touched everyone she met. She was a part of the Galilee Choral Ensemble for over 20 years. In July 1968, she and Harold Brunson welcomed her eldest son, Derrick Lee Smith. In January 1978, she joyfully united in marriage with Norman Little, and together they were blessed with a wonderful son, Darron Norman Little, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Kathleen dedicated fifteen fulfilling years to Wachovia Bank, followed by another fifteen as an Auditor at US Airways before retiring in 2002. Known for her love of family gatherings, she found immense joy in playing spades with loved ones and always embraced the spirit of the holidays. Being born on Christmas, she had a special love for singing Christmas carols and creating memories that filled her heart with joy.

A true lover of music, Kathleen found happiness in dancing, with her favorite artist being the smooth and soulful Maxwell. Her zest for life was infectious, and her laughter and warmth will be deeply missed.

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Ms. Kathleen Smith Little departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Velma Kay Smith; her father, Leo Smith; her sisters, Shirley Flippen and Valeria Johnson; her brother in-law Gregory Gilliam, and her dear nieces, Monica Flippen and Stephanie Johnson, all of Winston-Salem, NC.

Kathleen's memory will be lovingly cherished by her sons, Derrick Smith and Darron Little; her sister, Marilyn Gilliam; her brothers, Kenneth D. (Tommie) Smith, Harold (Kenetta) Smith, and Daryl (Mary) Smith; her nieces Nicole Gilliam, Monique Smith, Marquetta Reid, and Jasmine Smith; her nephews Marcus Smith and Daryl Smith Jr.; her dear cousin Pete (Leneva) Rainey and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family (Anthony, Dobson, and Stokes) who were
A public viewing will be held Sunday December 1, 2024, from 2pm until 4pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Monday December 2, 2024, at 12pm from Galilee Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 11:30 am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
