Brother Leroy Nelson was born on June 15, 1944, to Sadie McQueen in Winston-Salem, NC. He departed this life Sunday June 4, 2023. He was a 1962 graduate of Anderson High School. After graduating he served in the U S Army. After return brother Nelson worked and retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years. Brother Nelson was a member of Carver Road Church of Christ since 1967. Brother Nelson served in the Education Department as a Sunday School Teacher from Junior High School level to the Adult Classes. He also served in the following ministries: finance, benevolence, members accountability and missionary. He became a Deacon and then Elder and later Elder Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Calvin McQueen and a son Edwin Lamont Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Lillie B. Nelson, three sons Michael (Cindale) Nelson, Jeffrey (Wendy) Nelson, and Eric (Tamika) Nelson. Seven grandchildren: Angel, Jasmine, Trenton, Victoria, Amelia, Isaiah, Nikolas. One great-grand daughter Cinlee Ramseur. His mother Sadie McQueen, one sister Carolyn Leake. His mother-in-law Lessie Williams, two sisters-in-law Laura Bellanger and Linda Burgess. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A public viewing will be held Thursday June 8, 2023, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Friday June 9, 2023, at 10:30 am from Carver Road Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at 10:00am. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
