Linda McCain Anderson, affectionately known as "Nana," was born to the late Maggie McCain and William "Bill" McClain in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 29, 1951.
The family relocated to Winston Salem, North Carolina when Linda was a young girl. She was a graduate of North Forsyth High School in 1969. After high school, she attended Winston Salem State University 1969-1972.
Linda was an employee of the Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools system at Brown Elementary School from 1974-1978 prior to her employment with Piedmont Airlines/US Airways from 1978-2013. She retired from US Airways in 2013 after 35 years of service.
Linda was a member of Ambassadors Cathedral, for many years, under the leadership of the late Bishop F.D. Patterson prior to joining Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the director over the Wedding Ministry at Phillips Chapel.
Ms. Linda Anderson responded to the Lord's call to "come home" at Silas Creek Rehabilitation in Winston Salem on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
Linda was preceded in death by both her parents, Maggie and William McCain; two sisters Mary L. Carter and Lenoir J. Carter.
Family members who are surviving and will forever cherish her loving memories include her daughter Monica McCain (Peter Penn Jr.), Marc Sr. (Jessica) Raye, one granddaughter Marje Raye; four grandsons Ontario (Angel) Daniels, Darrell Hunter II, Julian Johnson, Marc Raye Jr.; five great-grandchildren Janiya Johnson, Julian Johnson Jr, Kaylyn, Londyn, and Seven Daniels.; a devoted niece Melonie (Michael) Gilliam; a devoted nephew Dr. Michael Brown; a devoted friend Pam Burton, three extended sons Tremaine (Chandra) Graham, Alfred (LaShay) Shaw, and Corey (Tamela) Hairston and a host of faithful nieces and nephews. A public viewing will be held Monday December 11, 2023 from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 12, 2203 at 12pm from Phillips Chapel Baptist Church and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
