Lori Lanay Bowen, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly. She was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is reunited in heaven with her sister, Gilda Jayne Bowen; her father, Edgar Wayne Bowen; and her grandmother, Lucille Pickett. Lori is survived by her mother, Linda Stewart Bowen Wood, married to Houston Wood; her daughter, Erica Nicole Danzy, married to Simon Danzy; her brother, William Edgar Bowen; her stepbrothers, Trent Wood and Travis Wood; and her stepsister, Casey Wood. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Natalie Jane Danzy, Zoey Denise Danzy, and Eli Jordan Danzy; her uncle and hero, David "Bubba" Stewart; and her longtime best friend, Melissa Proctor. Lori worked as a nurse caring for Alzheimer's patients, a role that reflected her patience and familiarity with complexity. She had a deep love for her grandchildren, who brought her pride and joy in ways few others could. Lori was also a devoted lover of cats and was known for helping any cat in need, often going out of her way to care for strays and rescues. She lived life unapologetically on her own terms—unfiltered, imperfect, and entirely herself. Can you add this to the obituary: Memorial Service will be held at High Rock Church on January 4,2026 at 4pm. Lori loved the color purple, it brought her joy. We invite anyone who would like to wear purple to the service as a small way to honor her. Professional services have been entrusted to Douthit Funeral Services.
