.Mr. Lucius Alvin Rogers, age 71, peacefully took flight to his new and eternal home on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Northside Gwinnett Hospital, Lawrenceville, GA.
Born January 26, 1951, in Hemingway, SC. He was the son of the late Willa Mae Rogers and Sam Rogers, Jr.
Mr. Rogers was a long-time resident of Winston-Salem, NC and was educated in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School System and ended his educational career with a bachelor's degree in Theology from New Life Theological Seminary.
Mr. Rogers proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps as a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned several medals and commendations such as; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, to name a few. There were many other commendations Sgt. Rogers received to honor his dedication and bravery.
Mr. Rogers was a Master Chess Player, Jazz Enthusiast, Nascar Fan, and a Lover of Fruit Cobblers (especially Peach) and Warm Apple Pie. Later in life, he became legendary for his "All Day" Car Details. He took great pride in keeping his cars clean! As He grew older, being called "Grand Daddy" and sometimes "Snacks" by the Great Grands, became his Pride and Joy. He really loved the Lord and His Family!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alfia Inzar.
Those who shall forever cherish his memory are his devoted daughters, Tiffany Rogers (Kenneth) of Suwanee, GA and Keshia Rogers of Winston-Salem, NC; his brother, Bishop Kendrick Rogers of Walkertown, NC; Grandchildren: Devin Rogers (Daniella) of Charlotte, NC and Nyla Rogers of Suwanee, GA; Great Grandsons: Amir, Elijah and Levi Rogers; Nephew, Solomon Hughes of Washington, DC; Niece, Jana Rogers of Winston-Salem; Aunt, Mary Gaskin of Winston-Salem, NC; Devoted Cousin, Flora Gantt of Rural Hall, NC; God-sister, Helen (Denorris) Mitchell of Winston-Salem, NC; Former Wife, Agnes McDaniel, Charlotte, NC, and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral service will be held Monday November 21, 2022, at 12:00pm at Douthit's. Interment will follow Tuesday November 22, 2022, at 9:00am in Sailsbury National Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated and memorial contributions can also be made. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
