Mae Frances Patton King's Obituary

Mrs. Mae Frances Patton King, 84, was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on October 11, 1932 and went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2017 in Virginia, surrounded by family. She was the eldest daughter of Nehemiah and Hattie Patton and was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Allen Patton and Leon Navarro Patton. Mae was educated in the Winston-Salem public school system, where she graduated from Carver High and Russell's Commercial School, and she attended North Carolina Central University. She retired as a Respiratory Therapy Technician at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her two children, David Leon King and George Franklin King. In addition, she leaves her granddaughter, Brittany Racine King; three loving siblings, Patricia Anne Careathers, Jacqueline Douthit and Wilbert Patton (Jung); sister-in-law, Loretta Patton, whom she regarded as a sister;Devoted friends Grace Richardson and Carol Miller. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 1pm from the Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Daryl A. Young officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 12:30pm at the church. The remains may be viewed on October 9, 2017 from 2pm until 6pm at Douthit Funeral Services.
